Review: Filthy Desire (Onyx Club Series #1) by Sebastian Ex

 photo FilthyDesireReview_zpsi1dotznz.jpg

My name is Matthew Weston. Don't call me anything else, because I won't respond. And if you think you can get away with whimpering ‘Matt’ while I have you tied to the bed, about to devour you, it'll end up being your loss.

Men like me don't talk about feelings. We just don't.

What men like me do is pound. I pound the asphalt with my running shoes on morning runs. I pound a punching bag in the gym until my knuckles bleed. And when I need a release, I find a beautiful woman sprawled out on her bed, eagerly waiting for my cock, and pound her into oblivion. Yeah, that's me. I don't have feelings, and I don't do love.

At least I didn't, until the night Ella walked into my office looking like a disgusting junkie to interview for a position for The Onyx Club. She was like no one I'd ever met before. She was timid, reserved, and quite plain with her mousy brown hair and dirty clothes. Ella also had a dark and haunted gleam in her eye. A secret, a past she was desperate to conceal.

And when she called me ‘Matt’ it didn't seem to bother me.

She came into my life and turned it upside down. The only question is, can I screw her out of my system, or will my filthy desire for her keep her by my side?
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24534938-filthy-desire

Filthy Desires is about Matthew Weston, co-owner of The Onyx Club, a sexy popular burlesque club. He is a hard ass, sexy alpha male player who loves women ONLY to satisfy his sexual needs. Emotionally he is detached until he meets Ella. She is a shy, plain woman looking for employment and wanting to hide from a dark past. Once Matthew meets her he is annoyed with her but yet something about her calls to him and he wants to protect her. During the course of the book, their relationship changes and Ella comes to mean more to Matthew than he realizes

Sebastian Ex's first book is so good. I enjoyed reading it. The storyline was smooth and flowed nicely and the sex scenes were HOT! His characters are likeable, even Matthew when he is being a total jerk. He becomes so soft hearted towards Ella it just melted my heart.

Review: Underworld's Call (Midnight Warriors #2) by Melissa Rose

Between the war with The Mynystry gearing up, and chaos threatening to explode at any moment, Jensen expected love to be the least of his worries. It just wasn’t on his to do list. That was, until she burst into the clearing.

Brooklyn Vanguard didn’t expect to find what she’d always been missing when chased into Jensen’s arms, which felt as if they’d been waiting for her. Can she look past the stories that scared her as a child to claim what’s hers?

Everything is stacking up against them, and new threats wait for their chance to strike but if they can find their way to the truth, then they just might win this battle.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for review purposes.

So, I actually read this book back in January. And at the time I was stoked to write my review because I absolutely loved this book. I even told this patient author that I would have it up in a few days. And here we are, the end of April, and I'm just now doing it. I feel awful about being so late with my review, but I guess, better late than never, right?

At any rate, it had been so long since I read it, I figured I would need to re-read it to do this right. So, yes, I've read this twice. And you know what?

It was just as great the second time as it was the first time!!!

I love these types of series, the ongoing saga that runs through each book and the individual struggles of each book's characters. LOVE IT! It's my kind of thing. Add to that when it's well written AND full of surprises. It's PNR Heaven!

Underworld's Call drew me in from the beginning. The twists and turns the story took kept me on my toes the whole way through.

This is a series I'll be keeping my eye on. I'm hooked. I'll admit it.

If you're a PNR fan, you should definitely add this one to your TBR.

Heroine...

Bold. Rebellious. Independent. Strong. Selfless. Outspoken.

As a reader, I find that I am more drawn to a strong female lead, so it's no surprise that with every book I write there is always a protagonist that kicks ass first and takes names later. Being a heroine doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be a badass huntress or an immortal with enhanced speed and great strength. Sometimes the leading lady is just a human girl, who get's caught up in the world of the supernatural and in order to survive, she must find her inner strength to come face to face with the monsters that roam the earth at night, despite the disadvantages of only being a mortal.

That's Paige Jacobs. That's my heroine.

I write main characters that are courageous, selfless and have the strength to go on, despite the challenges they must face along the way.

Excerpt - Tamed
Mortal vs. Immortal...

I saw them straight ahead. My father knelt in the dirt with his hands bound behind his back and his head bowed. With her hands fisted at her side, Andie paced back and forth, impatiently waiting for my arrival. Her clothes were soaked in blood. Ms. Charlotte’s blood. I could see the deep, nasty scars from Silas’ claws that covered her cheek. As her eyes shifted over to me approaching, a smile grew on her face, satisfied that her plan was working.

I looked down at my dad, resisting the urge to run to him in fear that she would attack me way sooner than I would like. Blood dripped from his head and mouth and into the soil below.

“I was beginning to wonder if you were going to show up. Poor daddy would have paid for that.”
“Let him go right now. I’m here alone, I followed your orders, now you follow mine and free my dad.”
I placed my hand behind my back, gripping the dagger just in case she surprised me with any sudden moves toward me.
She glared at me. “What do you have there? Is it your flask? Sorry, honey, but alcohol doesn’t burn these eyes.”
“Paige … run,” my dad said, breathless and tired as he could barely get the words out.
“Shut up!” Andie yelled.
She kicked my dad in the head and he fell forward, knocked unconscious. I gasped, anger stirring within. I wanted to rip her head off her shoulders.
“Don’t touch him!”
She laughed. “And what are you going to do about it, bestie?”
I took out the dagger. “I’m going to stab that pretty little heart of yours and fry it. Enjoy being electrocuted.”
“The only thing I’m going to enjoy is feeling your blood slide down my throat.”

She hissed and flew at me. My hand tightened around the dagger as I thrusted its sharp blade at her, feeling it slide into her stomach as she yelped.
Andie gasped, letting out a growl as she carefully removed the dagger from her stomach. "Stupid, stupid, girl."
Every heroine needs a love interest ... or two.

Falling in love was the last thing Paige wanted, yet she found herself drawn to two supernatural beings, leaving her to choose between Eli, the charmer, who would do anything to protect her, and the mysterious, alluring Silas, who had secrets far too dark to reveal. Paige soon learns that it isn't the love that she shares for both men that drags her into danger, but an enemy with a craving for revenge, forcing her into a battle that has been brewing for quite a while.

Excerpt - Eli and Paige
Training Facility...

“I’ve seen. You bend your knees, but your stance isn’t all that great.”
He moved behind me. “You don’t part your legs.” His foot tapped on the back of my shoe. “Spread ‘em.”
I grinned. “I can think of plenty of inappropriate replies to that.”
I heard him smile. “Part your legs, perv.”
“Yes, sir.”
And so I did just that, feeling him push my foot further apart, guiding me until he was satisfied with the distance between my feet.
His hands settled on my waist, and I smiled as a jolt of excitement soared through my body.
“I’ve seen you do it, but remember to twist your body when throwing your punch.”
I turned my head to look at him, our faces so close that our noses almost touched. I looked down at his mouth before meeting his eyes once more, resisting the urge to kiss him.
“You just needed a reason to touch my waist.”
He smiled. “Well, obviously.” He then backed away. “Stop flirting with me.”
“Oh, who was really flirting with who here?”
Excerpt - Silas and Paige
Pool Scene...

“A pool, beer, and one beautiful woman.” His eyes heated with want, and it called to me, deep in my stomach. “I’m liking it.”
“Come on in the pool. Wait, you’re not going to melt, are you?”
He smirked. “Really? Do I look like the wicked witch from The Wizard Of Oz?”
“You like the The Wizard Of Oz? You don’t seem like the type to be interested.”
“Okay, I may have visited a girl when she was watching the movie.”
I felt a sting of jealousy. “Oh, really.”
“Yes, really. Make sure you watch me now.” He gave that sexy smile and winked as he started to take off his clothes. And I did just that, my eyes running over his slim, toned body as I admired the view. He dived in the pool, his body soaring through the water as he made his way to me. I took a drink of my Corona as he popped up.
“I’m melting! Melting!” he said, in his best wicked witch voice.
It was so unexpected that I burst into laughter and my hand shot to my mouth as I choked on my beer.
“Oh, what a world, what a world,” I said, although his impersonation was much better than mine was.

He had no idea what I did ... the hurt that I caused. The pain that tore me to pieces, reminding me of that night. I was the self-destructive, wild child, with a haunted past who ruined lives and pushed people away. I was out of control and no good for him, but he still looked at me as if I was light when all I was, was darkness. His strange, unique, orange eyes lingered on me, as if he could see deep into my soul. There was a calmness that settled in me whenever he was near, taming the wild beast that I had become. Eli wanted me, Paige Jacobs, and there was no escaping him.

Until I met Silas.

There was something about him that drew me to him; something in his eyes that mesmerized me. He was beauty and perfection wrapped up in one, and I was drunk in lust. He was like a magnet, pulling me right in, and I was completely trapped in his gaze, unable to look away. Even though I was warned of the dangers that came with his kind, I found myself getting sucked into his mysterious and seductive world.

I was falling for both supernatural creatures, who would stop at nothing to have me, and in the end, one of us wasn't making it out alive.

Prizefight: The Hell Raiders MC Goes MMA

Prizefight: The Hell Raiders MC Goes MMA

by Aden Lowe

BOOK BLURB:

As one of the top fighters on the MMA circuit, I don't need help getting women, and I have no interest in the one included as a prize for my latest match. That is, until I learn what the local loan shark demands if she misses a 'date'. I can't get Elena's situation out of my mind. That could have been my sister.

As a member of the Hell Raiders MC, when Royse puts himself in our business, I have to act. I jump at the chance to learn more about Elena, and I don't like what I find out. She tried to get out of the life, and the bastard sent her to die.

Can I help her, keep my fight record clean, and take care of Hell Raiders business? Hell, why do I even want to? I'm nobody's hero.

So when she asks for help, why do I find myself saying yes?

I have a feeling I'm in for the fight of my life.

Is the Prize worth the Fight?

***This book contains Adult language and situations***

Prizefight is Book Four of the Hell Raiders MC series, but all can be read as stand alones.

MY REVIEW (5 STARS):
All that matterd to Ryker was MMA fighting and the Hell Raiders MC, until he won Elena as a prize for his last fight.  He didn't want to claim his prize but once he did nothing would be the same again.  He couldn't get her out of his head and that leads to all hell breaking loose as he tries to save her from the terrible life she'd been living.

I loved this new installment of the Hell Raiders MC series.  The story was suspenseful and full of action.  Aden Lowe writes such likeable/loveable characters.   Elena was my favorite.  She is loving, caring and sacrificed a lot for her mother.  Although sad, those sacrifices showed her strength to survive a not so kind life.  Elena is so appreciative of every little thing that it makes me truly think about the things I take for granted.  Ryker ranks right up there with Dix as my favorite Hell Raiders.  Ryker seems like such a loner but he is loyal with a big heart and he is so sweet to Elena.

Can't wait to see whose story is next.  With the small glimpse of his story in Prizefight, I am hoping for more of Stella!

Review: Reaper Chronicles: The Price by Riley Bryant

Reaper Chronicles: The Price

by Riley Bryant

BLURB:

The Reaping of souls is a task that encompasses all of humanity. In carrying out that task, Lyssa cared little for the souls of evil that came under her care. That is, until she is given a gift. A gift that would require a price from her that may be more than she can pay.

As she learns of the life of Deacon, can she see what he is, what he does, and still love him?

WARNING!
This book deals with real subjects in a fictional way. These subjects are difficult, and in many ways horrible. In writing of these subjects I do not seek to condone or promote them, but to represent them accurately. As such, the descriptions of events may be “triggers” for some. Evil is portrayed as evil. While this book deals with love, it is not a love story. This book is not for everyone. It is written for adults and deals with adult subjects. Do not read this book if you are under the age of consent in your region or country.

MY REVIEW (4 STARS):

What a roller coaster ride of emotions.

As I started reading the first few chapters of this book,  I  got so angry with what was happening in the scenes that I wasn't sure I could finish it.   The main character Lyssa was interesting and so I perservered.  I am thankful that I did.  The story took me on such an emotional ride.  I, like Lyssa, found it difficult to find anything redeeming or possible to empathize with such a horrific character like Deacon.   Eventually as the story went on I did just as Lyssa did.  As I read this book I went from anger to ugly crying to joy.  Kudos to Riley Bryant for being able to evoke such emotions in a story.  I am looking forward to the next one.

☆ Author Guest Post ☆ Kelly Eadon

Kumiko Lei     Author Guest Post, Kelly Eadon, The Wedding Date     No comments

I did it again. My book releases April 5th and I agreed to serve on a panel at my alma mater the night of April 7th. Manageable, right? I thought so. Until yesterday, when I realized it’s scheduled for the same time as my Facebook release party with Megan Ryder. The name of the panel? Work Life Balance.

Whoops.

To be fair, the deeper I’ve immersed myself in the world of romance authors the more impressed I am by how many authors do all the things. Day jobs, writing, book promotion, kids, spouses, pets. I’d bet you that most of us even shower on a daily basis.

That’s what makes this writing thing so damn magical. Even when it’s been a long day and my dogs opened the cupboard and ate a can of beans and I forgot to buy shampoo and I left the milk on the counter, I’m magically compelled to sit down and write. Last weekend I found myself stopped at a red light, plot mapping in a sharpie on the back of a used envelope. I just can’t help it.

And it’s not just authors. The ability to get shit done is a magical woman power. I know I’m not the only one who has chased an escaped cat back into my house at 2:30 am or “made” cereal for dinner. (Please note: I said I get shit done, not that I do it well.)

I write real women and real women get shit done, whatever it takes. That’s how my female leads manage to find themselves in a variety of odd situations. As one Goodreads reviewer noted about The Wedding Date, “I totally loved all the crazy fun characters in this book.” It what makes me love them and I hope, makes you love them too.

In honor of crazy, lovable characters, I’d like to share with you the very opening scene of The Wedding Date:

Music blasted through the elevator. It’s low, thumping bass line and bouncing beat made Kate Massie itch to dance.

“Yeah, girl, shake that booty.” She could barely make out the muffled lyrics.

Kate couldn’t help but grin as she glanced around the elevator. Three men stared back at her, their suits and ties as somber as their expressions. Whose ring tone is it? It wasn’t the type of thing she expected to hear blaring from the briefcase of a fifty-something partner .

“She’s a slut and she knows it. Just like that, uh, uh.” The song transitioned to sexual grunting. Kate would have giggled, but all three men continued to stare at her.

That’s when she realized.

Holy shit. It must be her phone.

Ryan, one of her best friends, must have changed her ring tone again. That was it, she officially needed to kill him.

Kate glanced at her cavernous bag, which was stuffed to the brim with her laptop, sunglasses, makeup, granola bars, business cards, and God knew what else, and began to dig through, frantically searching for her kelly green phone case. All of a sudden she felt like Mary freaking Poppins. The X-rated version.

Her cheeks flamed. The song had played for so long it had to be over. Please let it be over. By the time Kate found the phone it the call had rolled to voice mail.

Stay calm. Kate straightened her shoulders and met each man’s gaze, one at a time. All three continued to stare back coldly. She choked back the laughter that bubbled frantically inside of her.

“So uh, do you gentlemen have any big plans this weekend?”

One of them grunted something unintelligible and a bead of sweat formed on the back of her neck.

As the elevator came to a halt on the ground floor, the song began to play again. Her stomach dropped.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

She’d just started this job. She’d see these men every day for the next year, and she refused to let them think she was…well, she wasn’t sure what. She had to prove she was poised and in control. That’s what the Notorious RBG would do, right?

Kate gave a little shimmy and danced her way out of the elevator and into the hall, keeping time with the beat.

A little fake relationship never hurt anyone...

Kate Massie has big dreams-they just haven't worked out. Yet. In the meantime, she spends her days clerking for a judge and her nights fantasizing about her tall, dark, and sexy gym crush. So when she runs into him one night, she's shocked to realize he was her shy, nerdy junior-prom date. But that isn't where the surprises end...

James Abell needs a date to his sister's wedding. So when Kate agrees, he's relieved... until one little lie turns their wedding date into a full-blown fake relationship. Only it doesn't feel fake-not the toe-curling kisses and definitely not the electricity. Neither of them is looking for something real... but they just might fall for their own little white lie.

Product DetailsTaken by Two by Sam J.D. Hunt

BLURB:
Taken by two enigmatic men, Penelope Sedgewick overcomes demons from the past to learn to thrive in a thrilling new dangerous world. When the missing billionaire Nathaniel Slater reappears from oblivion and kidnaps her, she’s sure his dark friend, Rex Renton, is the true one to fear. As each of the unlikely lovers seek redemption for past sins, the three-way love between them grows into an unbreakable bond.

MMF/Bi/Ménage/HEA/M/M with heroine involved only

Mature adult readers only; explicit sexual content and frequent profane language. Fun erotic adventure, not dark, not BDSM. This is a THREE way love story (NOT a love triangle).

MY REVIEW (5 STARS):
In this day and age where everyone wants to put a label or definition on everything including love, it is nice to read a book where love isn't put in a box.  Love is just love regardless of the situation.   This book is about 3 people who find each other and make their relationship work for them and that is all that matters in their world.

I loved this book! it was a fast paced fun read with a little humor, some adventure and steamy love scenes.

Review: Pain by Ashley Wheels

PAIN by Ashley Wheels

BLURB:
Have you ever cared for someone so much it hurt? Loved them so much you couldn't even describe it? Scared you to your core? What if you were too scared to let them know how important they were to you?

Afraid of what they might say because you aren't a good person? You’ve killed, kidnapped, sold drugs and so many other things. Things you aren’t proud of, but can’t undo, no matter how much you might wish now that you know a feeling you never thought you would.

What if you waited too long and now they're gone forever, but you'll never be the same?

Well that happened to me.

This is the story of how one innocent girl changed my life forever, and one beautiful woman helped me survive the pain.

**Warning from the Author** - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! - This isn't your normal MC Romance. There's a lot of humor, badass action, sexy romance, and emotions that will make you feel. - Full length standalone with an HEA.

MY REVIEW (5 STARS):

Author Ashley Wheels solo debut book was a great book.  It had me hooked from the beginning.  Little miss Abigail's character was so sweet and loveable.  I enjoyed reading about how she brought the big strong burly bikers to their knees and fall in love with her charm, especially Chalk.  This book had me laughing and crying.  Even with a smart sassy 6 year old in the story, there was still plenty of romance and sex too.  I truly enjoyed this book and hope there will be more stories about the Death Jokers MCs to come.

Review: Divine Ecstasy (Guardians Of The Realms #8) by Setta Jay

Unknown     5 Stars, Divine Ecstasy, Guardians Of The Realms, Review, Setta Jay     No comments

Divine Ecstasy (The Guardians of the Realms Book 8)
Divine Ecstasy
(The Guardians of the Realms Book 8)
by Setta Jay

BLURB:

The slave of demented Gods, Sacha knew only a life of anguish and suffering until she was reborn as a Guardian of the Realms. Gifted with immense strength and rare abilities, she has spent thousands of years battling to protect the four Realms with her Guardian family. Time has allowed her to construct the perfect mask of calm and control so none can see the past shame and immense pain buried in the darkest recesses of her mind. Now, an encounter with a new and powerful enemy has left Sacha the victim of a poison induced coma that all are unable to heal. The last thing anyone imagines waking her is a God with the strength and potential to unravel her entire world.

As the most powerful of the Gods, Hades was awakened from the Creators’ enforced sleep to help the Guardians in their quest to find his heinous brother, Apollo. After a brutal battle with an unknown Goddess leaves him in need of healing he finds himself powerfully drawn into the room of a sleeping seductress. Her soul calls to him relentlessly, but if he surrenders himself to that connection and gives her the strength to heal, life as he knows it will end.

With their worlds unraveling and new threats at every turn will Sacha’s past destroy them? Or will she bring a God to his knees and lead them both into Divine Ecstasy.

MY REVIEW (5 STARS):

The God Hades was awakened to help the Guardians find Apollo who was taken by a mysterious foe. Even though Hades is one of the good Gods, the Guardians do not fully trust him, including his own son P.  Things take a turn when Hades helps heal the Guardian Sacha and brings her out of her comatose state.  To everyone's surprise Sacha is the Hades chosen mate.  Sacha must come to terms with all of this including her past as a slave to the cruel Gods in order to trust and love Hades and Hades must try to win Sacha over and earn her love.

Divine Ecstasy is the 8th book in the Guardians of the Realms series and it is still one heck of a ride! This series is one of my favorite book series.  It keeps me guessing and wanting for more.  As with the other books in the series, this installment has plenty of steamy hot sex scenes but Hades is also gentle and loving with Sacha, making it very heart melting.   There is also a glimpse of the mysterious foe, the Thurl and their history and I am anxious to read the next book to learn more about them and why they took Apollo.
