Review: Tainted Kiss (Watcher's Kiss #1) by Sharon Kay

Kumiko Lei     4 Stars, Review, Sharon Kay, Tainted Kiss, Watcher's Kiss     No comments

Tactical, lethal, resolute.
Haunted by a centuries-old tragedy, there’s no room in Arawn’s life for softness. Every action he takes is for the betterment of his race and the good of the realm. He leads his elite band of warriors the same way he lives his life: full on, without compromise, determined. Except for one sexy female who happens to be his subordinate.

Tenacious, passionate, tough-as-steel.
Ria relishes the duties Arawn assigns her as much as she respects the deadly combatants on her team. And she has a secret: her formidable boss is also her deepest fantasy. Years of working under his authority haven’t dulled the spark she feels, yet her passion is tempered by the hints of loss she gathers about him. His dark and sexy moodiness draws her, but he’s a hard man to approach as he keeps the world at emotional arm’s length.

Secrets laced in blood burn his battle-hardened soul.
When Ria is gravely injured in the line of duty, Arawn can no longer fight his own long-simmering feelings. But a secret, more heinous and ugly than anyone could imagine, prevents him from surrendering his heart. Despite his intentions, he and Ria forge a connection both fiery and unexpectedly tender. Yet every day brings them closer to shocking facts. Evil stirs in his blood, and hiding the truth from her will be the ultimate betrayal.

I'm ashamed to admit that this is the first book by Sharon Kay that I've ever read. Where the hell have I been?

The beginning was a little muddled for me, I kept thinking I was missing something, although I don't know what that was.  Once I got past that, the rest of it just flew by.  I was IN this story.  The more I read, the more pulled in I got.  There was plenty of action, suspense and super steamy lovin'.

I loved Ria and Arawn, and how he let his walls down over the course of the story.  He was still holding back towards the end but when he finally let it all go, it was glorious.  Ria is the quintessential strong heroine.  None other would've done for Arawn.

The side characters in this story are captivating and intriguing, and I'm looking forward to their stories.

I was really impressed with this and I can't wait for the next one.  This series has the potential to be a favorite of mine.  I think I may have found myself another go to author.

REVIEW : A Real Cowboy Never Says No by Stephanie Rowe

Unknown     A Real Cowboy Never Says No, Review, Stephanie Rowe, Wyoming Rebels     1 comment

A Real Cowboy Never Says No by Stephanie Rowe
Book Blurb:
The only reason rancher Chase Stockton and his brothers survived their brutal childhood was because they protected each other. Nothing will ever come between them…until a sudden tragedy calls in a life debt Chase can't ignore, forcing him to make a choice that could destroy the very bonds that hold his family together.
Mira Cabot has never asked for help, but when a sexy, protective cowboy makes her an offer she can't afford to refuse, she finds herself on her way to Wyoming to be the shotgun bride of a man she has every reason…and no reason…to trust.
The sizzling connection between Mira and Chase turns a rescue mission into something dangerously addictive, one that could either heal two broken hearts, or shatter them forever.

My review

A Real Cowboy Never Says No by Stephanie Rowe

Stephanie Rowe's new series surround the stories of the Stockton Brothers, sexy strong cowboys from Wyoming.  All the brothers experienced abusive childhoods and as a result they forged a great bond between them.  The band of brothers have protected each over the years and struggle to find happiness in their adult lives.  They are loners and have all taken an oath to not let anything come between them especially women.

In book 1 you meet Chase Stockton.  He has lost his best friend, AJ, in a tragic accident, and attends his funeral where he finds Mira Cabot, AJ's childhood best friend.  Through AJ's stories over the years in college, Chase fell in love with her before he even met her.  The two make a connection through their grief, but it becomes more.  Circumstances drive Chase to protect her, he owes AJ, but he can't truly fall in love with her, because of his promise to his brothers never to allow a woman into their protective family circle.

I am a fan of Stephanie Rowes paranormal Order of the Blade series, so when I got a chance to read this new series I was excited.  Who doesn't love a strong sexy cowboy, right?  The story is sweet and sexy. Her characters are strong and developed. I am a sucker for the damaged hero who finds his salvation when he meets the right woman.  Chase Stockton is damaged, but he is loyal and endearing. He is trying to hold his family together and stick to the oath he took with his brothers, but he also wants to be with Mira.    I loved Mira too.  She has lost so much in her life, but still finds happiness in it and remains positive.

This is a great start to a new series.  I got a glimpse of the other Stockton brothers in this book and can't wait to read more.

Review: Black Dawn (Titan #6) by Cristin Harber

Kumiko Lei     5 Stars, Black Dawn, Cristin Harber, Review, Titan     No comments

What happens when nothing is as it seems?

Lexi Dare is on a one-woman mission to stay alive. Both at home and at work. Because how did she end up with a ring on her finger and an abuser in bed as she readies to hit the high point in her career? Everything should be perfect. Amazing job. Handsome fiancé. It’s all a disaster.

Parker Black is the brains behind Titan Group, an elite security firm. In his world, everything is ordered and controlled, except what he feels for his buddy’s girl. Something in her eye screams for help, but he has no idea what.

When Lexi disappears, Parker realizes what he should have known. The lines blur between friendships and work, and they must find each other to survive a terror attack that only Lexi can stop.

Black Dawn can be read as a standalone and does not have a cliffhanger.

Alright, I'm just gonna come right out and say it.  READ THIS BOOK!  Ok, only if you've already read the others in the series.  You don't have to read the others, but you'll be kicking yourself if you don't.

The Titan series as a whole is amazing and each book has its own little things that pull you in and keep you there.  But for me, Parker is on his own level.

I honestly have been worried about writing this review and I'm sure I'm not going to do Cristin Harber or Parker Black justice with this.  There are things that I want to say and I probably should say here, but I can't.

This is most definitely a 5 star read.  If more stars were available, it would be the highest rating.

Black Dawn is an eye-opening, emotional, sweet, sexy, suspenseful ride... and now I will go send Cristin Harber an email, to say all the things I couldn't say here.
