Review: Wilde and the Witch (Soul Scavengers #1) & His Wounded Rose (Soul Scavengers #2) by Lisagh J. Winters

Sarah      4 Stars, His Wounded Rose, Lisagh J. Winters, Review, Soul Scavengers, Wilde and the Witch     No comments

Psychic medium Olivia Emerson is young, gutsy, and out to prove she’s got what it takes to hang with the big boys. Although haunted by a past that threatens to consume her, Olivia accepts a job on a snow covered island that could make or break her career. She just needs to keep her past where it belongs- behind her. She knows this job could be her foot in the door, and hopefully the vehicle she needs to break into the business and take the next step up. The only problem; she’ll be working with him.

Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde has a healthy dislike for anyone claiming to hear or communicate with spirits. To him, they’re all frauds. He learned firsthand that just because you want to believe, doesn't make it real.

When Sullivan’s forced to work with Olivia, he’s not happy about it. She exasperates him, pushes his buttons, and doesn't have a shut off valve for that mouth of hers. He doesn't believe in her ‘gift’, and makes no apologies for it. Yet, as much as he tries to deny it, there’s something about Olivia that gets under his skin. The moment they’re left alone on the dock of the island, devoid of living inhabitants, everything changes. Some unhappy spirits, coupled with Olivia and Sullivan’s burgeoning feelings for one another leave them with no choice but to rely on one another if they want to make it through the night. Can Sullivan and Olivia put their differences aside in order to finish the job and walk out alive?

This is book one of the Soul Scavengers Series. I gave it four stars. It is a series that I highly recommend you read. You definitely have to read this series in order.

Olivia Emerson is a clairvoyant who is younger than most, but not as young as she looks, compared to most people in her field. She is out to prove to Mister Wilde that she can hang tough with the men. She has accepted a job that will further her career or end it.

Sullivan Wilde is the Paranormal Investigator working the case with Olivia. He strongly disagrees with people who think they can hear or connect with ghosts/spirits. Sullivan thinks because of one instant when he reached out to a medium, because it didn’t work for him, they are fall frauds.

They are forced to work together, against Wilde’s will. Olivia has a sassy mouth and doesn’t know when to keep it shut. Wilde doesn’t believe that she has the gifts that she claims to possess. Something about Olivia gets under his skin so much, but yet turns him on. Will their feelings for each other tear them apart or help them work together to stay alive and finish up the job?

Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde and clairvoyant Olivia Emerson make it back to New York without killing one another, and are now joined at the hip for better or for worse. Back home again, Sullivan’s deep ingrained inability to make a commitment causes friction between them, almost driving Olivia to the breaking point. Sullivan’s young daughter Sabrina offers invaluable insights, while Olivia struggles to make their relationship work.

Fellow investigators Kelly and Hudson Hayze, a brother and sister duo, along with their producer Arnav Bhandari, make up the rest of the Soul Scavengers family. The team members are excited to meet Olivia, and make no apologies for torturing their cranky colleague over the sins of his past, latching onto his obvious attraction to the fresh-faced clairvoyant.

When the Soul Scavengers team find themselves called to a mysterious mansion in rural Illinois, they get a little more than they bargained for. Ghostly giggles, squeaky, bouncing beds, clinking champagne glasses and whispers of sweet nothings make it difficult for the team to concentrate, let alone proceed with their investigation. A hundred twenty-five year old love triangle threatens to expose a long-forgotten secret when the ghost of a heartbroken young paramour attempts to shed light on the mansion’s dark history.

This is Continuation of Book #1 and picks up exactly where book #1 left off. I gave it 4 stars. You must read this series in order to understand the chain of events that takes place.

Psychic Medium Olivia Emerson and Paranormal Investigator Sullivan Wilde make it through trip one alive, not killing each other or being killed by the obstacles that were faced. Sullivan’s commitment issues are a struggle for their relationship. Sabrina, Sullivan’s daughter reveals some truth that is to come that Olivia can’t seem to believe. Sullivan’s partners Kelly & Hudson Hayze, brother and sister, and producer Arnav Bhandari complete the Soul Scavengers team. Olivia is the new addition thanks to Sullivan. She is the new girl on the block and is picked at by the team mainly to torment Sullivan.

The team is called to a mansion that was once known as a brothel. Hormones, giggles, creaking beds, all make up things that are encountered at this house. When the team’s emotions run high, the spirits feed off of this. Will the team be able to overcome the spirits and let their own emotions take over to overcome and solve the case?

I was a little upset with how this book ended, but I can’t wait to see what Lisagh Winters has in store for us in book #3 because Olivia and Sullivan’s relationship is far from being over no matter what their choices they decide.
