Review: Marking Her (Marked #1) & Marking Him (Marked #2) by Elena M. Reyes

Sarah      5 Stars, Elena M. Reyes, Marked, Marking Her, Marking Him, Review     No comments

Talan wants to mark Maya—with more than his ink. The owner of a prominent tattoo shop, he’s used to being hit on by easy women. Though “easy” is not a word associated with Maya when she comes in to support her friend. Flirtation ensues, but what will it take to break the painted man.

*Complimentary copy received for review purposes.

Talan knows that from the moment he first spots Maya aka Bitty, that she will be his. Maya come in the shop with her frend Esther. Bitty knows that she wants a tattoo, just not sure as to what she wants. She is excited to see that what she finds that owner is a older "tatt boy." Little does she know how things will end up between them.

This is a quick steamy read novella that will keep you intrigued and begging for more. I gave it 5 stars because of it's hotness and drama. I need that NC17 to get me geared up for the next read in the series Marking Him.

The day Maya Owens walked into his tattoo shop, everything Talan knew changed.

After officially starting a relationship, he is now having trouble managing Maya—a woman who consumes every part of his being and owns his heart. His need to control her and everything around her drives Maya insane, but he has good reason. After all, Janice is still lurking around and she has a vendetta against his Bitty. In no time Talan wants more, and it’s faster than Maya can handle; things begin to get complicated.

Months of frustration and want take them for a ride neither wanted, but now yearn for. Will they make it through the turbulence? And if so, at what cost?

*Complimentary copy received for review purposes.

Talan & Bitty's story continues in book 2 Marking Him. Things have moved from 0 to 60 instead of the slow pace Bitty requested. She doesn't know if she is ready to follow through, but she feels safe with her "tatt boy" especially with Janice always making her presence known.

Bitty is given her nickname for her sassy mouth and little bitty size. She puts her big man in his place when needed. Will he always be there to protect her?

This was also a quick, smoking hot read. Being marked is not just having his ink. Will Bitty allow Talan to mark her in everyway possible? I gave it 5 stars as well for the sex scenes and suspense.

Favorite quote: "I will need you always, and make no mistake Talan. The moment we met, I was marked by you. You etched yourself into my heart and under my skin."

Bailey and Summer have been best friends since they were three years old but on Summer’s nineteenth birthday tragedy strikes, changing the life of Bailey Mortenson forever. The only thing left for her to do is run, run far away.

Finding solace in the town of Blackrock her world is quickly turned upside down by a chance meeting with Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome. With a grief stricken heart and trying to settle into a new town can Bailey find the happiness she deserves ?

Knox Porter , Tall Dark and handsome, plays the guitar like its on fire. Has cut himself off from ever allowing another girl to betray him again. Trusting no one only his twin brother Max , Knox’s life is about to get a little bit crazy as his closed off heart beats into life when his eyes lock on the most beautiful girl he has ever seen.

Will Bailey and Knox get over their own pain and heartache and finally let love in? Or will tragedy strike again leaving them both broken and lonely?
Scarring their hearts one more time.

Scarred Hearts (Blackrock) | Barnes & Noble | Goodreads

Bailey Mortenson decides to take a change of pace and get away from Grove and all the tragedy that has occurred.  She decides to move in with her dad for the summer in Blackrock.  Little does she know, Tall Dark & Handsome is right around the corner every time she turns around.

Knox Porter is TDH, guitar player and singer in a local bar, George’s, where he also bartends when he is not playing on stage.  Knox’s twin, Max is the first of the two to spot Bailey and tell Knox, I just spotted your future wife.  “See something you like Darlin?” is what lured in Bailey to finally approach Knox, and I’m so glad that she did.

The truth to the story of Summer and what happened in Grove will absolutely break your heart.  I was crying just reliving what Summer and Bailey went through.  Not looking for love when coming to Blackrock, Bailey finds Knox.  But will they be able to be together by getting over their scarred hearts from their grief stricken past?

I gave this novel 5 stars.  I loved it and it had be intrigued all the way through.  I found myself at one point stopping, not sure if I was able to endure what was to come.  I’m so glad I sucked it up and finished it out.  This book was awesome and I highly recommend it and continuation of the series as well.

What do you do when the girl you love stops breathing in your arms?

When life kicks you while you are down?

You get up and fight, fight like hell!

After struggling to put their pasts behind them and take a chance on each other, Knox and Bailey begin to move forward in their relationship.

But the past always has a way of catching up with you…….

On a trip back home to Grove for spring break, that’s just what happens to Bailey. Her past catches up with her, the sender of the dead roses reveals himself while making good on his threats. Sending Knox Porter into a place he never thought to be again…sitting in a graveyard, this time with the still body of the love of his life in his arms.

Join Bailey, Knox, Max and Paige as their lives evolve and change through out this book. Each dealing with their own difficulties and each finding solutions that will, either bring them closer together or tear them apart.

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Goodreads

This is book 2 of the Blackrock Series, and you must read Scarred Hearts to understand.  So, if you have not, read book 1 first!!  This book picks up exactly where book 1 finished.  I gave this book 5 stars as well.  Bailey & Knox stole my heart in book 1 and I’m so happy to be able to share my thoughts on the continuation of the series.  Word of advice, this book will tear at your heart, have a box of tissues handy!

Bailey is definitely a “fighter” in more ways than one.  If it wasn’t for Knox’s love, she wouldn’t be able to get past some more rocky situations in their relationship.  The sender of the notes, and dead roses reveals himself and tries to make his promise come true.  But Bailey is not going down without a fight.

Bailey, Knox, Max & Paige all experience their own dilemmas throughout this book.    Their solutions don’t always bring them together.  They find themselves all dealing with personal problems and they need each other to get through all their trials and tribulations.  This book is equally dramatic, definitely tugged at my emotions and made them raw, so be prepared for an amazing emotional read.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Why write books?
Well it has always been a dream of mine to write a book, I have written many stories but never finished them or hid them away. I was waiting very impatiently for this. I really, really, really needed a more concrete resolution to Burning Desire. And thank goodness I got it.

Ride Hard started out rough for me. I think getting the resolution to Burning Desire in the beginning of Ride Hard is what threw me. Even though all of the characters are connected to each other, its sometimes hard to jump from one couple's drama to the next couple's so quickly.

A third of the way through, Ride Hard found its mojo and had me. I read this in one sitting. I had to finish.

Hunter or Jeremy? How the hell do you choose? I know, I know... tough, alpha bikers don't share, but boy do I wish those two would have.

So many secrets and surprises. I almost felt like every time I turned the page I got hit with something else.

And then I got to the last page and my mouth was hanging open and I was all like

I kept trying to swipe the screen for the next page of story and all I got was acknowledgements.

Why? Why would you do this to me? Aaaarrgh! I just want to bang my head against a wall. Where does this leave me? Waiting... impatiently... again. I have to have book 3, like now!

I'm still not sure how I feel about this. I wish that Chase and Roxanne's story had been finished in Burning Desire so I wouldn't have been so out of sorts with Ride Hard. That being said, I can see where the stories in Ride Hard and Reckless Abandon could be more entwined and less likely to make me feel that way.

All in all, totally worth the read, but if cliffhangers bother you, definitely wait until you can read them back to back.

Review: Sweet Girl (Titan #1.5) by Cristin Harber

Kumiko Lei     5 Stars, Cristin Harber, NetGalley, Review, Sweet Girl, Titan     No comments

Well, its no secret that I'm a fan of the Titan series.  Having read every book in the series, there was no way I was going to miss this one.

If you're like me and have read the rest of the series, you know where Cash and Nicola are now, and you know the basics of their past.  Sweet Girl takes you into that past to give you the missing pieces of the puzzle.

This is not typical Titan.  There are no high strung military heroics.  What there is though, is a sweet, sexy love story laced with some suspense and a tragic ending.

Even though, this is 1.5 in the series and the prequel to Garrison's Creed, I don't think they should be read that way.  I think to get the full effect of Cash and Nicola's story, you need to read Garrison's Creed first, then back track to Sweet Girl.

Cristin Harber did a phenomenal job with this.  I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I loved it.  It doesn't hurt that Cash is my favorite.  I hate him... and I love him.  Cash and Nicola's story through both books hurts my heart and then heals it right back.  This is definitely one that is going to rip your chest open and stomp all over your heart.

I can't wait for more from this series.  It has quickly become one of my favorites!

Review: Leap of Faith by Michele Shriver

Sarah      4 Stars, Leap of Faith, Michele Shriver, Review     No comments

Single mother Tracey Hiatt prides herself on having a close relationship with her daughter- the kind of relationship she’s always wanted, but never had, with her own mother. When her mother suffers a debilitating illness and faces a lengthy recovery, family takes on a whole new meaning for Tracey as she finds herself pulled back to her ex, Steve Eldridge. There’s only one problem: he’s involved with someone else. Steve is drawn back into Tracey’s family drama and after her mother awakens from a coma believing he and Tracey are married, the two are forced to confront some fundamental questions about their relationship.

Can they put past hurts behind them and take a leap of faith into a new future together?

*Complimentary copy received for review purposes.

Tracey Hiatt is a single mom and tries to build a bond with her daughter that she never had with her own mother Pamela.

Pamela endures a medical setback and this starts to show how family is supposed to be: close and looking after each other. Pamela's condition pulls Steve & Tracey together in more than one scenario, but is it too late for them to have a family happily ever after?

Pamela wakes from a coma thinking Tracey & Steve got married. Will the truth set them free? If Tracey takes a Leap of Faith which direction will it lead?

Lindsey is Tracey & Steve's daughter. She wonders why her parents never got married? "It's complicated." Will their complications find solutions to help them finally become a family of 3 or will discussing the past bury the knife deeper in Tracey's heart.

I really enjoyed this novel. I gave it four stars. It's nice to read something clean and not too X-rated. It was a fun & quick read.

Title: Something Missing (Book 1 in the True Love Series)
Author: Hazel Robinson
Release Date: May 1, 2014
Audience: Adult
Theme: Romance, Life, Coming of Age
Publisher: Little Bird Publishing House

When Susan is left orphaned, she begins a harrowing journey through the care system. Left with both mental and physical scars, Susan approaches adulthood with a self-destructive impulse. However, there is hope in the figure of her childhood friend, Max; the first boy she ever  kissed.

Now a grown woman, Susan returns to her childhood home of Winchelsea, where she hopes she will find the answer to the gap in her heart that she’s carried with her since she left. With Max by her side, she attempts to find the path her life should have taken, to build a home, to heal old wounds, and to finally create a family that will stop the terrible feeling of something missing.

But Max has a secret, one that risks destroying all hope of a happy ever after, unless they can find a way to heal one another.

His touch was so gentle yet Susan felt it burning deep under her skin. As he caressed her stomach, she couldn't stop herself wanting him. He had completely taken over her body. The only thing she could see was the pure blue sparkle in his eyes; it was like staring at the ocean. She needed to give herself into him. She ran her hands over his shoulders and down his back, pulling him close. There was no more pain and no sorrow. He set her free.

AMAZON US ~ AMAZON UK ~ B&N

Susan returns "home" after being placed in the foster care system. She was taken away from her childhood best friend Max, the only boy that she ever kissed. She is so broken both physically and mentally and keeps herself from getting attached to anyone. But will she allow herself to open up to Max and attempt to heal the brokenness inside and replace what's missing? Are the physical scars hiding her truth? Will she find the something missing to fill the hole that she thought would never be fulfilled?

Will Max's skeletons from the closet push Susan away or help make their relationship stronger? He has dark secrets in his past you would never expect from sweet and perfect Max. It's so hard to think about the awful things that are done to children while in the system.

This was a sweet love story without too much drama. I felt like every paragraph jumped forward and it was too perfect too fast. I knew it was too good to be true too soon. I enjoyed this story and give it 4 stars. It is a stand alone and a quick read. Sometimes I felt like it was hard to stay focused because it seemed to jump around so much. Music has become such an inspiration to my reviews because sometimes when I can't think of the right words I find the perfect song. So if I didn't say everything I could without spoilers, I hope these songs help explain.

I've always had a passion for reading but over the last several years it has become an obsession, a few months ago I decided to put fingers to keys to keyboard (or pen to paper!) and write Something Missing,a story I’ve had hidden away in the back of my mind for a long time.

Hazel lives in the small town of Rishton in Lancashire. England, with her husband, three children, two cats, dog, rabbit and lizard. She fills her days dashing between school runs, pets and housework and at night she comes to life either writing or watching her favorite program ‘Supernatural’ (yes she is Supernatural obsessed)

Her road to writing started with a love for paranormal romance novels, and after finding a passion for tragic romance she set out on the mission to share her own story. After long nights writing and a lot of ‘Supernatural’ episodes she is finally ready to share ‘Something Missing’. Hazel loves nothing better than sitting with a cup of tea, a chocolate biscuit and a good book.
