Oh boy, it's been awhile and in my last TBR Jar I said I was going to be posting these better.
I totally FAILED there.
At any rate... Let's do this.
Learning to Love (Carson Hill Ranch #1) by Amelia Rose
For Miranda, Newark has nothing to offer except a dead-end job, a crummy apartment, and an abusive boyfriend. But when her younger sister signs her up for an online dating website to prove to her the kinds of guys who would be interested in her, she starts an online connection with the perfect guy. He's handsome, he's a real-life cowboy, and...he's in his seventies!
Miranda steps off the bus to find the man of her dreams waiting for her, only he doesn't know it. His elderly father, concerned that his six sons are isolated on their highly prosperous 800,000-acre ranch signed up one of his oldest boys and did a little matchmaking behind their backs.
Now Miranda and Casey have a choice to make, but will they be willing to put aside their mistrust and give this a shot, or go their separate ways?
This one was a hard one to get into. I mean, I can totally see the overbearing patriarch of the family using a dating website to find love for his sons, but I guess it doesn't play out well in the book.
It started off really slow and I had a really hard time getting into it. Once the story picked up and I could get into it, it was good. But then... the timeline seemed off and once the all the "I love you"s started it seemed rather quick and had me rolling my eyes.
The way the story was headed, I was expecting this to be a clean romance (I guess in a sense it was), but it gave the impression of having some moral lessons about promiscuity or at least not having sex before marriage. This was NOT the case. They had lots of sex. It was fade to black, but you still knew they did the deed. A.Lot.
Side Note: There are editing issues, so if that bothers you, be warned.
It was a freebie. It's still free. Try it if you want. Let me know if you do and what you thought. I like to see if my reactions are close to others'.
I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.
