Sometimes the best things in life come from the unexpected. So if you lower your expectations, then you’ll never be disappointed. Sound cheesy? It is, but it's also true. Clichés come from a grain of truth…like a man with a Porsche is compensating for something, or once a cheater always a cheater—you get the idea. Sorry, I digress. I'm supposed to be telling you what this book is about.
I'm Megan Walker, a lawyer at one of the hottest boutique law firms in Atlanta. I'm on the fast track to making partner and have my entire life planned out...or I did.
We all know how that goes, right? Best laid plans and all that.
Life just threw me a couple curveballs, so I've set out to take things into my own hands. By throwing caution to the wind and getting out of my A-type personality bubble, I'm learning more about myself than I have in my twenty-seven years.
Sound like a chick flick, doesn't it?
It’s not.

**ARC given in exchange for honest review**
I am giving Sunshine & Whiskey a 5 star review for several reasons. I have different reasons behind my 5 star reviews. Sometimes it’s based on the genre, and/or the content. This book has a HEA, but totally not what you would expect from the beginning. It is part of a series but it is not a cliffhanger. It has hot men, and I mean this plural. I am a southern belle, so I love sunshine and whiskey. At times I laughed so hard, people around me were asking if I was okay and other times, I wanted to punch Megan in the face for being so stupid (the main character).
Megan Walker is my hero for so many reasons in this book. I love her “I don’t care what other people think attitude.” She is willing to find herself and completely start over. But will it be with who you think or who you picture her with? I love that this book never allowed me to guess what was next to come. Some books you read, you know from the beginning who you will love, who you want to end up together and how you want their HEA to finalize. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted for Megan, but on her journey through this book, I discovered that nothing I had hoped for her is what she ended up with. At first I felt like it was all over the place I couldn’t figure out why things were so all over the place, but all the information throughout her journey was necessary to explain why and where she is today.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“Okay, I’m torn here. I don’t want a calendar of a male model, but one I’ve screwed…maybe.”
“Well, I would suggest that after baths or showers you use your hairdryer to dry your vagina.”
Ok seriously who does this and what kind of advice is that? What is the purpose of using a hairdryer? Why doesn’t a towel work?
There are several others, but I want this to remain spoiler free so I highly recommend this book so you can check out all the awesomeness in it.

R.L. Griffin published her first book in 2004. After that she focused on practicing law. A few years ago she began writing the By A Thread series, which is out now. Her goal is to keep readers on their toes, whether it's the plot twist or the book itself, her books are outside any box. There is a little bit of grit in most of her books and a ton of cussing. Most books are enjoyed better with a glass of wine, or whiskey, whatever your poison may be.
She lives in Atlanta with her husband, kid and dogs. She loves to travel and meet readers.
